Ajit Pai, who concluded his four years as chairman yesterday
I was rather astonished to find there was someone who had a governmental role of even marginal consequence under Trump who actually stayed in that role for 4 years. The only other example I can think of was Ben Carson, but he apparently was there to tell us that any homeowner could run HUD.
I was rather astonished to find there was someone who had a governmental role of even marginal consequence under Trump who actually stayed in that role for 4 years.
What is ironic is that prior to Trump, everyone pretty much universally agreed the incompetent bureaucrats should be sacked if they aren't performing. Trump came along and did exactly that but now he's the devil?

You have a very different perspective on Trump's cabinet than I. While FCC Chair is not a cabinet level position, we did see lots of cabinet level positions - and other Trump appointments - that were turned over very quickly over the past 4 years. More to the point though I can't think of any people who Trump appointed and then canned for incompetence, while I can think of plenty who he fired because he didn't like their words or actions. This was the only administration in memory where a key "competenc
...for an appointment from Trump was to be willing to tell the president what he wants to hear. This is pretty much completely the opposite of what cabinet members are supposed to do.
How many Cabinet meetings did you personally attend? Or is this your version of events from CNN?
The cabinet exists to give advice to the president. They should be advising the president on topics he/she is not an expert on. Under Trump the role was inverted, Trump was dictating to the cabinet what they were supposed to do and he was firing those who did not do that. What is the purpose of a cabinet if you are not accepting their expertise or their advice?

Sure, and that happened. The difference is the a business person operates completely differently from a bureaucrat. So saying he did things different is a positive for a lot of people.
Trump was dictating to the cabinet what they were supposed to do and he was firing those who did not do that
And you know this from your intimate dealings from personally being within cabinet meetings? Or is this the CNN narrative that aligns with what you want to believe?
Trump was an outsider, so of course they all hated him and did everything to undermine him. What I find odd is that pre-Trump most people universally despised career politicians, now somehow they think they're good people? Give it another 12 months, people will be asking for an outsider again...
You could actually try listening to what Trump and his spokespeople themselves said about why various advisers were fired over the years. You could also read the bios of the people he appointed, and try to find how many of them were actually reasonably well qualified for the positions they were appointed to.

You said it didn't happen, I gave you an example.
How can you possibly take in objective information if you approach all news sources in that way?
You're saying how can I be objective when I don't swallow subjective information all the time? Here's a famous quote from years ago, "if you don't watch the news you are uninformed, if you do watch it you are misinformed". Thinking that your chosen news channel is the only good one is insane. This applies to all sides.
I didn't say you're crazy; you're putting words in my mouth. I did say Trump is an idiot, but that is a provable fact. You can think I'm crazy because I use actual facts in my argument, but that doesn't in any way help support your claim.
Well you've clearly conflated fact with opinion here. No wonder you are so easily led by the media

Wrong. Trump has demonstrated repeatedly that his intellect is - at best - subpar compared to anyone else who has ever been president. Several people who have worked for him have made solid arguments for him indeed being an idiot. Just because he'

I pointed out that you incorrectly attempted to apply "No True Scotsman" - including providing you with an accepted independent link (that website is frequently used by people of all stripes here on slashdot) explaining what it actually means - and you replied with a childish insult. It's OK to admit that you're wrong, kid - that's often an important part of learning. It's not really OK to respond to learning by insulting the person who is sharing information with you.
I pointed out that you incorrectly attempted to apply "No True Scotsman"
You did no such thing. You're response was the equivalent of "did not". I'll leave it to the audience to decide who is right.
You also notably did not reply to anything else that was in my reply.
Because it was incoherent gibberish. But just for you, because I've got some spare time and I'm feeling charitable:

Various reasons, none of which change the fact that yet another of your assumptions was wrong.
I'd believe you to be about 20 years old. I would not believe you to have been on slashdot for 20 years.
So you had an opinion, then when I corrected you on your incorrect assumption, rather than accept the new information, you invented a scenario in which you were still correct in your own head. Display of such cognitive dissonance cannot be argued with in any logical manner so I didn't bother.
