"Scientific" "American" has now abandoned science in favor of leftist politics, and abandoned Americanism in favor of socialism or perhaps Europeanism. It actually happened long ago, which is why I cancelled my subscription to Scientific American in the late 1990s, when it became obvious.
The only thing I didn't understand - and still don't - is how Scientific American could call themselves that since all they were writing was leftist fear-mongering.
A logical explanation for this could be that "mainstream politics" in the US has been moving right for the last 20-30 years, leaving the scientific community looking left-leaning by comparison. Please entertain the idea that Scientific America hasn't abandoned science, it's that science itself is starting to look left-learning.
For example, by world standards Obama is quite right-leaning. Yet even he was considered a "leftist socialist" by many in the US, hence the Trump backlash.
