My previous entry was stream of consciousness catharsis. Here's rev 2...
I feel personally responsible for the ascent of George W Bush. Even though I spoke out against him, even though I voted for McCain, even though I tried to sway swing votes, I feel like Schindler. I could have done more.
I suspect there are many others - practical Greens, Democrats, paleo-Republicans and moderate Libertarians - who also feel guilty. Once again we speak, and we vote, and we donate. But it won't be enough. Bush will be elected unless we do more this time.
As mentioned previously, it's all about the swing states. My vote (for Badnarik) won't matter much, but I have dozens of friends and relatives in Ohio, Pennsylvania, Virginia & Florida. My first objective is convincing them to vote anti-Bush. Kerry is the most practical choice, but even a switch from Bush to Badnarik or Peroutka is worth the effort.
I've asked my parents for their family address books. I'm tracking down my old college friends for theirs. I'm working on letters to ask for their help. I should probably write three variants for left/right/undecided. Suggestions for quotes, phrases & wording would be appreciated.
Objective two is getting my positive respondents to become active campaigners. Whether they follow my plan, volunteer with Kerry, or do their own thing, the swing states need more feet on the pavement.
Phase three is taking election day off from work. I'll vote absentee, drive there, and walk the walk. Help voters get to the polls. Push the margin from 48-50 to 50-48 or beyond. Especially in Walden O'Dell's Ohio, it has to be large enough to catch vote rigging.
Will it help? I'll find out on Tuesday November 2nd. But I wouldn't be able to look at myself in the mirror on November 3rd if Bush triumphed while I did nothing.

So far I am underwhelmed by Kerry. His positions [issues2000.org] on abortion and public schools are out of touch, he's in bed with RIAA/MPAA, and he's 0 for 3 on Iraq votes.
On the other hand, most of his other positions are tolerable, and he got an A from the LCV. The environment is one of the few issues I'm immoderate about. He and McCain were way out in front pushing for higher CAFE stan

A couple things still do shock me here. The Yellow Dog reference is nice, but based on the bullshit flying around the Democratic party right now, I'd say it goes beyond that. To toss a little hyperbole of my own, I bet there are Democrats who would vote for Kerry

You want a binary answer? Yes, Kerry is the lesser evil, especially since Congress is Republican. Until America has a real multi-party system, divided government is the least-worst option.

There are definitely some crazy rabid democrats out there. Same with crazy rabid republicans who think Bush should be allowed to violate the Constitution whenever he feels like it. (some of them even say the Constitution help

Let's think about this. Kerry in his 20s fought for his country, then worked to end the war once he realized we couldn't win. Is that really unforgivable? For comparison, GWB spe
