Journal frankie's Journal: A bunch of fickle mush heads 5

Bush Jr's ratings have plummeted ever since he announced the $87+ billion price tag for invading Iraq. A whole bunch of people -- 1/3rd of Americans -- are suddenly upset that it's going to cost so much.

These people are idiots.

For the past 30+ years, the US electorate has been divided into 3 roughly equal groups: Right, Left, and fickle mush heads. (Yeah yeah, I'm leaving out the 0.4% of libertarians like you and informed moderates like myself. What are you going to do, sic the Patriot Act on me?).

The Left (except for loser wimps like Gephardt) has been saying all along that going into Iraq without the UN would be a big mistake. So have I.

Meanwhile, the Right has wanted to re-invade Iraq for years, and cost is irrelevant since their companies get the war-bucks. Evil, but at least they know what they're doing. I'm just surprised they haven't planted WMD evidence already; I figured that's why they wouldn't let the UN inspectors come back.

Anyways, this means the tie-breaking vote is up to the ignorant bastards. They chose to believe Bush Jr's innuendos about Iraq and 9-11 and WMD. They figured that the war would magically pay for itself, and at the end of the movie the hero would shoot Saddam and everyone goes home happy.

Then came reality...

(*) = Remember those mobile wea p on labs that Bush Jr was crowing about in June? He was pretty close; they were mobile weather-balloon labs!
(**) = Except that both Saddam Hussein and Osama Bin Laden used to work for Bush Sr.

So, to everyone who was "shocked" or "surprised" about how difficult, expensive, and unsatisfying Iraq turned out to be, this is all your fault.

    Pretty much by definition.

The worst of them all has to be Dennis J. Kucinich. He wants [house.gov] the UN to have a bigger role in Iraq, that's fine. However, the real motive, as he explained in the debate on CNN, was "Get our troops home! It's costing us to much! Iraq is not worth American lives!" (paraphrased from memory) Is that really the way to invite ot
    • I can't imagine the chaos after a too rapid pull-out.

Yup, leaving too soon would be the worst possible scenario. We've got to help a real Iraqi government take control or it'll turn into Taliban part 2.

What happened to all the stuff that Iraq had, but was never found?

I don't recall evidence of bioweapons other than claims from expatriates sucking up to the White House. Could you point me to any?

      No surprise there.

We know that Saddam's regime had chemical (and bio?) weapons, and used them against Iran and Iraqis. What I'm referring to is the difference

        • We know that Saddam's regime had chemical (and bio?) weapons

Chemical, yes, absolutely. We knew all about Saddam using mustard gas "against his own people" even before Rumsfeld visited Iraq in 1983 [gwu.edu]. If any of that is still left over, I find it peculiar that not a single foot soldier or truck driver has stepped forward to tell where they buried it (in exchange for obvious $$$).

No evidence of killer bugs in Iraq, then or now, AFAIK.

p.s. Just a historical tidbit: the only people who ever used smallpox
