wanderindiana writes "Pete Yost of the AP reports:

Older White House computer hard drives have been destroyed, the White House disclosed to a federal court Friday in a controversy over millions of possibly missing e-mails from 2003 to 2005. The White House revealed new information about how it handles its computers in an effort to persuade a federal magistrate it would be fruitless to undertake an e-mail recovery plan that the court proposed.
Is this a valid excuse for not being able to recover missing emails, or should someone hang for this screw-up?"

  • If they were government machines that had any classified material on them, then I say charge everyone in the chain of command involved. Machines with any classified data have to be put through a rigorous process to destroy all of the parts that can hold data before they get tossed out. Once you get to TS, just chucking the hard drives could get someone in very serious legal trouble.

For their sake, they better hope that those machines were private ones that only had GOP data sent across them.
One difference between a man and a machine is that a machine is quiet when well oiled.
