Looked at one way, rebellion by The People is a cause for suspension of habeas corpus. Looked at another way, suspension of habeas corpus is cause for a rebellion by The People.
Too bad the people will never rebel. As long as they have their sitcoms and pretty gadgets, they don't want anything to do with it. Someone could say "starting tomorrow, everyone has to have their ass branded like a cow", and 9/10 these people would be lined up, pants around ankles, as long as you give them something shiny to show off to their neighbours. As long as we tell them it's because of 9/11, they'll do it.
